Hieno viski.
Oluitakin tuli siis maistettua. Ensimmäisenä Suomenlinnan Panimon Hoppe IPA. Mukava illan aloitus, mutta jää kyllä aika miedoksi. Pisteet: 36/50.
Toisena erinomaisen Rogue-panimon Brutal IPA. Mukavasti sitrusta ja hedelmää. Karamelliä unohtamatta. Pisteet: 38/50.
Kolmantena Rogue'n ihmeellinen chiliolut eli Chipotle Ale. Ei oikein napannut. Paska olut. Pisteet: 25/50.
Kolmantena (taas) Rogue'n Imperial Pilsner. Upea pullo tässä. Kotona tästä tulee upea mehupullo. Oluena tämä oli muutenkin upea. Suosittelen. Pisteet: 38/50.
Ja sitten neljäntenä oluena (EI VOI OLLA TOTTA!) taas Rogue'n olut. Tällä kertaa Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Hieno pähkinäinen olut. Pähkinää joka paikassa. Pisteet: 36/50.
Tulis sitä välillä maistettua muitakin kuin Roguen oluita. Myöskin Traquair'in House Ale -olutta tuli maistettua. Mukava olut. Mitäpä siitä sen enempää. Pisteet: 36/50.
Ilta tuli päätettyä Flying Dogin Snake Dog IPA:an ja Samuel Adamsin Wee Heavy'yn. Molemmat hienoja oluita ja sellaisia, joita ehdottomasti kannattaa maistaa. Pisteet 38/50 ja 36/50.
Upeita oluita ja viskejä siis taas tarjolla.

Viisi Penniä & Kitty's
![]() | |
| Real ale'a Kittysissä (Real ale at Kitty's Pub) |
I went to Viisi Penniä pub yesterday to taste few beers and whiskies. I started with Beer Hunter's Mufloni Säppi APA which was very nice beer with hops and floral aromas. It was also citric and fruity. Points: 36/50. After that I tasted Brew Dog's Chaos Theory. That too was great. Caramel, fruits and hops on the nose and nuts, vinegar and hops on the palate. Points: 36/50. Then Rogue's Old Crustacean Barleywine Style. Fruity, sweet, veggies and yeast on the nose and malts, sour and sweet on the palate. Points: 34/50. I also tasted some whiskies. I had local speciality called Penni Peated Malt. This is infact Smoky Joe that was finished inside Pedro Ximenes filled small barrel. Great finish. Leather, perfume and smoke on the nose and medicine, sherry, smoke and toffee on the palate. Points: 86/100. Then Bruichladdich's Octomore 4_167 which had honey, salt, smoke and spices. Points: 87/100. I ended the night with Glenlivet's 18 year old. The 12 year old isn't my favourite but this is better. Very fruity, sweet and honey-flavoured whisky. Points: 86/100. Today I went to Kitty's pub at the centre of Helsinki. I've always loved real ale and that's why I wanted to visit that pub. They had Tring brewery's Bring me sunshine -ale. Very nice like real ale's usually are. Floral, fruity and hoppy ale. Good for hot summer days. Points: 38/50. I had Auchentoshan Valinch on the side. Nice whisky for it. Apples, perfume, praline, cognac and cocoa on the nose and fruits, sweetness and vanilla on the palate. Points: 85/100.

Uisge2012
How come 12 months go so fast? It was just like yesterday when the Uisge2011 was held at Gallows Bird. This time the whisky festivals were held at Vanha Ylioppilastalo at the centre of Helsinki. Pub environment was perhaps better when it comes to enjoy whisky but VY had more space inside and I assume there weren't any queues outside like last year. I did miss some really interesting items this time but all in all it's great that the powers behind this event had the enthuasism to organize this. Thank You and hope we see you next year.
Me and my wife tasted 14 different single malts (+ Tia tasted also Balvenie 21YO) and had a really great time. I even tore down the stand of Grant's - of course, this was an accident. Believe it or not. Excellent feeling and great that so many foreign whisky experts travelled to Finland just for this happening. Hopefully there will be Uisge2013...
My ratings this evening:
Talisker 25 YO (2005 edition) = 93
Tobermory 15 YO = 92
Highland Park Thor = 90
BenRiach Rioja Wood Finish = 90
Glenmorangie 25 YO = 89
Old Pulteney 21 YO = 88
Glenlivet Guardians = 87
Bruichladdich PC9 = 85
Macmyra Special 07 = 84
Bunnahabhain 32 YO = 81
Isle Of Jura Boutique Barrels = 81
Auchentoshan Bordeaux Cas Matured = 80
Glenlivet Archive 21 YO = 80
Hakushu 12 YO = 73
Congrats to Talisker!
BTW. The gentleman behind Balvenie desk suggested us to taste Port Wood 21 YO and Parmesan cheese together. That sounded a wee bit odd but after tasting I was gobsmacked. Great combination. Thanks for the idea.

Few drams @ Old Anchor (12 November 2011)
Och aye! Me and my wife spent some time this evening at Old Anchor and I was disappointed to see that during these few years the whisky collection had diminished from 75 to 25. So, Helsinki lost one Grade A whisky bar. The pub itself has a great nautical decoration and feeling. You have to visit there just at least for one dram.
I had Brew Dog's Christmas Ale "There Is No Santa" and Balblair 1992. I also had a bottle of Criminally Bad Elf and drams of Ardbeg Alligator and Auchentoshan 17 YO. I have to admit that Criminally Bad Elf was better than I remembered when I first tasted it few years ago. I was perhaps having a bad mood day back then. Ardbeg and Balblair were okay but the winner of the evening was definitely Auchentoshan 17 YO. That was marvelously sweet and winey and fruity. It just coated my palate and I also tasted it after a while. Och, gin A hae mair whusky, A widnae touch watter onymair.
There Is No Santa = 34/50
Criminally Bad Elf = 33/50
Balblair 1992 = 80/100
Ardbeg Alligator = 83/100
Auchentoshan Aged 17 Years = 93/100
