Malmgård Belge & Ruosniemen Panimo Pikkupomo II

Viidessä Pennissä (Helsinki) tuli maisteltua perjantaina pariakin pienpanimo-olutta. Ensiksi pöytään iskeytyi Malmgårdin panimon Belge. Väri oli jo jotain tummanrubiininpunaista ja houkuttelevaa. Tuoksussa muuten paljon Tabascoa. Kaverihan sen bongasi ekaksi ja pakko olla samaa mieltä. Maussa taasen kukkaisuutta, lakritsaa ja mausteisuutta. Hyvinhän tuo upposi ja pisteitäkin ropisi 30/50.

Hanassa oli myös uutta Pikkupomoa Ruosniemen panimolta. Tämä oli II versiota, jossa enempi humalaa (muistaakseni). Ja olihan siellä sitä humalaa mukavasti, kuten kukkaisuutta ja hedelmääkin. Hyvin upposi, kuten se ensimmäinenkin versio. Pisteet: 37/50.

At Viisi Penniä I tasted couple of Finnish microbreweries' beers. First was Malmgård Brewery and Belge. The colour of the beer was very dark ruby red. Ma mate said there are lots of Tabasco in the nose and I have to agree. On the palate I found floral, licorice and spicy notes. Very good beer and points: 30/50.

Then there was Pikkupomo version 2 by Ruosniemi Brewery from Pori. Very good beer when compared to the first version. Lots of hops and floral notes and fruits. Excellent. Points: 37/50.

Couple of beers at Villi Wäinö

What's better way to end a work week than going to a pub. Villi Wäinö is famous for having many Finnish microbrewery beers in their catalogue.
Today I tasted Stallhagen's Organic President Pils and Stadin Panimo's Dark Ale. OPP was beautiful with copper colour and very good lacing. It had fruity and sweet aromas plus hoppy and sweet taste. Great pils. Points: 36/50.
Second beer was Stadin Panimo's Dark Ale. Lots of burnt and sweet aromas and bready, caramel and nutty flavours. Syrupy ale. Points: 30/50.

Great way to start a weekend...

Mikä onkaan paras tapa lopettaa työviikko kuin mennä pubiin. Villi Wäinö on kuuluisa siitä, että sieltä löytyy monta suomalaista pienpanimo-olutta.
Tänään maistoin Stallhagenin Organic President Pilsiä sekä Stadin Panimon Dark Ale'a. OPP oli tosi houkuttelevan näköistä. Kuparinvärinen olut ja hieno pitsinen vaahto. Hedelmäinen ja makea tuoksu sekä humalaa että makeutta maussa. Upea pils. Pisteet: 36/50.

Toinen olut eli Stadin Panimon Dark Ale oli tumman kolan värinen ja siinä oli paljon paahteisuutta, sokeria ja makeutta. Maussa leipää, karamellia ja pähkinää. Siirappinen olut ja pisteet sille 30/50.

Malmgård Brewery - Huvila Pale Ale

Tonight's the night for Huvila Pale Ale which is a cloudy golden brown beer from the Malmgård brewery. The first sniff was filled with hoppiness. It was also citric. The taste had also the familiar hoppy and citric flavours but also the beer was bitter and fruity. Nice ale. Points: aroma 8/10, appearance 2/5, flavour and finish 8/10, palate 4/5, overall score 14/20, total points: 36/50.

Laitilan Kievari Portteri

Let's pour some black beer into a pint. Laitilan Kievari Portteri has some nice deep black colour and light brown thick and frothy head. Lots of bread, caramel and maltiness in the nose. Coffee and caramel on the palate but also it's quite syrupy. This ale goes well in the dark and cold days of Finland. Points: 36/50.

Prykmestar Wehnäbock

It's great to see so many microbreweries flourish in Finland nowadays. But there's room for more. Yesterday I tasted Prykmestar Wehnäbock which was brewed in Uusikaupunki (in western Finland) at Vakka-Suomen Panimo. This brewery was formed in 1997 and has several different beers available. This particular beer is cloudy and dirty brown with no head at all. Nose and taste has grainy, wheaty, syrupy aromas and flavours but also lots of over-ripe fruits. Very nice unfiltered beer. Points: aroma 7/10, appearance 1/5, flavour and finish 8/10, palate 3/5, overall score 12/20 = 31/50.
