Lots of whiskies on the shelves but I was also surprised to see a bottle of single malt from Pori available: Old Buck. That porinian single malt is excellent so when you have the chance to taste that you should have a dram. But now to the other whiskies I had that night.

It was just like yesterday when the Uisge2011 was held at Gallows Bird. This time the whisky festivals were held at Vanha Ylioppilastalo at the centre of Helsinki. Pub environment was perhaps better when it comes to enjoy whisky but VY had more space inside and I assume there weren't any queues outside like last year. First I tasted Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale which was really hoppy. Lots of floral, grassy and hoppy aromas with citric, fruity, hoppy and salty flavours. Points: 42/50. The second was Stone Pale Ale which was a milder one. Merging more o' these Scottish and Irish whiskies and A wasn't a bit disappointed. A lot of spicy aromas and salmiac. Winey and bushes on the field. I know, sounds odd but like walking on the nature. On palate I tasted more spicy flavours and woody notes. Finish was long and spicy. Points: nose22+taste23+finish22+balance22 = 89/100.

The first sniff was filled with hoppiness. It was also citric. The taste had also the familiar hoppy and citric flavours but also the beer was bitter and fruity. Nice ale. Points: aroma 8/10, appearance 2/5, flavour and finish 8/10, palate 4/5, overall score 14/20, total points: 36/50.

Last time I was there they had one real ale and approximately 20 single malts. Now they have two real ales and approx. 30 single malts. Great improvement. I had both of those real ales tonight, first Dark Star's Old Chestnut and then Hophead by the same brewery. Both were very tasty. Next experiment is a blend that has very smooth scents. It's fruity and nutty. This blend is medium-bodied and it has fruitiness all over the palate. Glen Scotia 12 YO is normally quite pungent but this blend will make it quite smooth. n230+t22+f21+b22 = 87/100. Me  and my wife spent some time this evening at Old Anchor and I was disappointed to  see that during these few years the whisky collection had diminished from 75 to  25. The scent reminds me quite  much of Littlemill or Glenlivet but this one's better. Lots of apples but also  this is floral and has perfume notes. Taste is filled with floral, fruity,  vanilla and honey notes. It's sweet on the palate and has medium long and fruity  finish. I can't say this is one of the best 10 year olds but is okay...

I took 1 cl of Aberlour 10 YO and 1 cl of Laphroaig 10 YO. There was a nice blend of smokiness and fruitiness. Nose had dried plums but it was still smoky. Taste: smoky, fruity and sweet. I was surprised this experiment turned out to so well. Points: nose21+taste21+finish20+balance = 82 points. This was 35 years old and it was distilled in 1975 and  bottled in the Spring of 2011. The colour was quite similar to white wine. The  scent from the glass was overwhelming: it was spicy, sweet, gingery and also  toffee and coffee. But  there's room for more. Yesterday I tasted Prykmestar Wehnäbock which was brewed  in Uusikaupunki (in western Finland) at Vakka-Suomen Panimo. This brewery was  formed in 1997 and has several different beers available. This  particular beer is cloudy and dirty brown with no head at all. Yesterday I had a chance to taste Mackmyra which is  a Swedish whisky. Preludium 05 couple of years ago was a nice experience and  this "Swedish single malt - the first edition" was very good indeed. Very  vanilla flavoured and fruity. 84 points to that. I have to say that I  like Aberlour's whiskies, especially A'bunadh is very tasty. But I assume many  Aberlour whiskies cannot be described as poor. I have given 85 points to this  whisky and I think that's okay and I do not have to change that. This golden  single malt has sweet, nutty, toffee, vanilla, honey and fruity scents. I remember that  I gave quite bad points to 12 year old but this version is much better. A refill  sherry butt #555 whisky has a sweet, sherryish, perfume nose. It's  full-bodied (56.6%), fruity and chocolate flavoured and it has a long, sherry  and fruity finish. So much better than the 12 YO. This version (Carn Mor Vintage series bottle) is not so  good but still not bad at all. White wine coloured whisky with plums, fruits,  vanilla and lots of fresh grapes on the nose. Nice. Whisky is full-bodied with  fruity, sweet and peach notes on the palate. Great long and fruity notes on the  finish. Colour and head: citrus with a thin head. This is a fruity and citric beer  from France. Also quite sour with apple notes. For hot summer days this would be  good but I think I wouldn't buy this again. Not the  Holy Grail one but Extra 8. The world's best beer is usually thought to be Abt  12 and it has gained e.g. 47/50 points at http://olutopas.info. The bottle itself  doesn't have a label and the only information can be found on the crown cork. After Glenmorangie Sherry Wood  Finish and Glenkinchie 1989/2002 DE drams that  nevertheless weren't that bad starters of the evening I yearned something  better. I took a dram of fantastic smoky and smooth Caol Ila 18 years  old. Quite average single malt.  Cider-coloured, medium-bodied and pretty short finish. Very floral single malt  with apples and toffee. Also woody notes. Taste has also floral and fruity notes  and a hint of salmiac. Nose 21 p, taste 19 p, finish/aftertaste 19 p, balance 19  p = 78/100 points. Rating: 8-. Satisfactory whisky but nothing else...

Very fruity and sweet. Lots of dried  fruits. Medium-bodied whisky with a hint of smoke at the background.  Adding  water brings up chocolate. Sweet and fruity aftertaste. Beautiful whisky.  Points: nose 23, taste 23, finish/aftertaste 21, balance 22. Total points:  89/100 (grade: 9-).

Also nutty and cardamon comes to mind. Taste is  sweet, nutty and malty. Toffee finish. points: 82/100 (8+). Good but not as good  as Glen Keith 1983.
